Enhancing School Transportation Safety: Takeaways from NASDPTS 2023 Annual Conference

Key learnings from NASDPTS, plus Greg Jackson joins the membership committee on the NASDPTS Supplier Council.

Greg Jackson, along with SBL’s CEO Robert Jacobus, recently traveled to Virginia to attend the 2023 NASDPTS Conference. This event provided a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in pupil transportation policy, safety measures, staffing solutions, and environmentally friendly practices.

The conference showcased industry-specific updates from agencies such as the National Transportation Safety Board and the Environmental Protection Agency. Panels addressed critical topics, including the role of propane in school transportation, the rise of electric vehicles, insights into school bus accidents, and strategies to combat driver shortages.

The conference was a great way to grow our network and gain sharper insights into industry challenges. 

Greg Jackson Joins NASDPTS Supplier Council 

In a significant stride towards promoting safe and efficient school transportation, SBL’s Greg Jackson has recently joined the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services (NASDPTS) Supplier Council. His involvement in the council is set to bring forth valuable thought leadership and industry knowledge, contributing to the overarching mission of elevating safety standards and efficiency in school transportation.

NASDPTS Supplier Council 

The NASDPTS Supplier Council plays a crucial role in representing the interests of Supplier Members associated with the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services. It serves as a platform for council members to address technical and governmental relations issues related to the manufacturing of buses, equipment, and services within the school bus transportation industry.

Greg’s role on the Membership Committee will focus on marketing membership in the NASDPTS Supplier Council to other companies eligible for membership. He’ll also be assisting in identifying and contacting prospects and encouraging member companies to continue active participation.
